The Challenge

Make Up For Ever is a brand owned by the luxury group LVMH. They came to us in 2012 needing a robust multi-country and multilingual e-commerce site. Their old site, running on Magento, didn't have the capabilities they were looking for. Namely, a powerful CMS which could handle a content rich site and third-party integration. They had been selling through partners, and wanted to be able to sell their products directly.

Our Strategy

We held ten collaborative workshops with their digital teams, producing a 500-page functional specs document. Then we sliced and themed the site for Drupal 7. From day one we integrated Drupal Commerce to prepare the site for integration with their ERP solution. We then implemented Feeds for importing and exporting content, Panels to enable custom layouts, and Apache Solr for optimal search results. Because they needed granular control over various text fields, we installed a customized version of Entity Translation. All the while we consolidated various domains, with different layouts, into one multi-country and multilingual instance of Drupal.

The Benefits

After launching in 2013, Make Up For Ever’s brand image and global coverage immediately improved. Their website is now accessible from one domain, and content management is more efficient. Their headquarters can closely follow each country’s editorial process. The responsive multi-platform site has won industry praise and admiration since launching, both for its striking elegance and rock solid performance.
